Technology

Tools that serve the programme.

VSN adopts technology for one reason: it makes the programme more predictable, the coordination more complete or the record more reliable. The tools below are used on site every day, not in presentations.

01BIM coordination

Clashes resolved in the model, not on site.

Architectural, structural and services models are federated and reviewed weekly during design coordination. Each clash is logged, assigned and closed before the affected package is released for construction.

Digital drawings issued to site are generated from the coordinated model and controlled by revision.

024D planning & schedule monitoring

Sequence tested before it is built.

The construction programme is linked to the model so that sequence, logistics and crane coverage can be reviewed visually with the site team. Progress is recorded against the programme weekly and status is reported monthly.

03Progress reporting & drone monitoring

A consistent view of the site, every month.

Scheduled aerial surveys and fixed-position photography record progress from the same viewpoints each reporting period, so change is easy to see and compare. Survey data supports quantity checks during earthworks and structure.

04Document control

One register. One current revision.

Drawings, specifications, method statements and inspection records are held in a common data environment with defined status codes. Superseded information is withdrawn from site when a new revision is issued.

05Digital QA/QC

Inspections recorded where the work is.

Inspection requests, checklists and photographs are completed on site against the inspection and test plan, then signed off digitally. Non-conformances are raised from the same record and tracked to closure.
