Sustainability

Measured where we control it.

A contractor’s greatest influence is on how a site is run and how early it can inform design decisions. This page sets out what VSN does in both — without claims we cannot evidence.

01On site

Site commitments

  1. 01

    Waste segregation

Waste is segregated at source on every site, with destinations recorded for each stream.

  2. 02

    Materials and packaging

Deliveries are planned to reduce packaging, double handling and damage in storage.

  3. 03

    Site energy

Grid connections are prioritised over generators; temporary lighting and welfare are specified for efficiency.

  4. 04

    Water

Water use is metered, and surface water is managed to prevent silt and contaminants leaving site.

  5. 05

    Dust, noise and vibration

Limits are agreed with the local authority and monitored where neighbours are close.

  6. 06

    Neighbours

A named contact and published working hours for every site; complaints are logged and answered.

02With design teams

Influence before the design is fixed.

During preconstruction VSN reviews structural options, material specifications and logistics with the design team. Where alternatives reduce material quantity or waste without compromising performance, they are presented with their cost and programme effect so the client can decide.

Embodied carbon assessments are the responsibility of the design team; VSN supplies the procurement and quantity information those assessments depend on.

03Reporting

What we will publish.

[Insert verified environmental data — waste diversion, energy and water use — with reporting basis.]

[Insert verified environmental certification, e.g. ISO 14001 — only if held.]

Discuss environmental requirements for your project.
